Little Moab

Atleast that is what the kids called it. The actual name is "red ledge" picnic area in Diamond Fork Canyon.  I had passed the picnic area various times during biking trips and this saturday we decided to go there for lunch and exploration.

The area is full of natural arches, the largest (20-30 feet high and 6 feet wide) located very near the parking area.  After lunch the exploring began.

The kids named this rattlesnake arch. On the way up to it we found a ratllesnake, and tried to catch it but it hid under a rock. It was more scared of us (and two dogs) than we of it.

This area is very popular for rappelling and rock climbing. The kids (particularly Esther and Caleb) are excited to go back and do it again someday. This is definitley a place we will visit again. After lunch and some exploration we headed farther up the canyon to a neat little valley that Guthrie and I had seen on a bike ride.

The road was a little rough getting in, but well worth it. We spent about 2 hours hiking and playing the water while the kids tried to catch the fish.

Joseph made a flag for us. I think he said we were like an army or something.

This is another cool place we will visit again. We love finding places like this hat are so close to home yet so much fun. The kids had a blast and were all exhausted when we got home that night. However, they were somewhat quiet in church the next day. . .
